I am delighted to introduce Goodrow to you, a building surveying practice (named after my father’s engineering firm) providing director-level specialist dilapidations advice and dispute resolution services. Goodrow is the culmination of a career of experience, of learning, writing, teaching, advising and of developing dilapidations policy. Dilapidations claims:
· Preparation of schedules of dilapidations and quantified demands for landlord clients
· Preparation of Scott schedules and responses for tenant clients
· Negotiation of settlements of dilapidations disputes for either landlord or tenant clients
· Pre-litigation project management of complex dilapidations disputes where additional specialists are required

Dilapidations dispute resolution:
· Expert witness services relating to the building surveying aspects of dilapidations disputes
· Sitting as arbitrator of dilapidations and disrepair disputes
· Sitting as independent expert of dilapidations disputes, including under the RICS Dilapidations Dispute Resolution Scheme
· Acting as mediator or conciliator of dilapidations and disrepair disputes (low fees are available for this service whilst I build my experience)

Meet Jon
“The expert’s expert”
I am an experienced chartered building surveyor and dilapidations specialist having been at the forefront of dilapidations practice and policy in the UK for many years.
I was head of dilapidations at JLL and, previously, at TFT I was head of dilapidations and dispute resolution.
I am the author of “The TFT Purple Book: A Guide to Dilapidations in the UK”. “As a book which is intended to draw together the many and complex strands of dilapidations practice, The TFT Purple Book is an accomplished piece of work.”
For the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) I was lead author of the current Dilapidations Professional Standard for England and Wales (7th edition) and the RICS Dilapidations Dispute Resolution Scheme.
I have provided expert evidence in various reported cases, including as court reporter (in Scotland).
I sit as an arbitrator of dilapidations and disrepair disputes (including service charge disputes), am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators.
I chaired the RICS Dilapidations Forum and chaired and presented at various RICS dilapidations conferences in London and Glasgow for many years (most recently in 2026).
I provided training services for RICS including the “Certificate in Dilapidations” and numerous other courses.
I represented RICS in negotiations with the Ministry of Justice and the Property Litigation Association regarding the final version of the Dilapidations Protocol.

I was awarded fellowship of RICS in 2012 for services to the profession.
I hold a diploma in arbitration, an RICS certificate in evaluative mediation, a Bond Solon certificate in expert witness services and am currently completing an LLM in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution.
